Virginia Boyle Appointed Executive Director of Community String Project
Virginia (Vicki) Boyle has been appointed Executive Director at Community String Project. Boyle takes over the position from Alan Bernstein who had a nine-year tenure as Executive Director and retired at the end of June.
Recently, Boyle was CSP’s Program Director, overseeing youth and adult classes, instructors and community performances. As Executive Director, she will be responsible for the continuing growth of CSP, fulfilling its mission of bringing affordable and accessible string instrument lessons to the youth and adults of the East Bay area, as well as community outreach, grant procurement, and special performances. She will maintain her duties as Program Director.
Ms. Boyle has been involved in CSP since its inception in 2009, and started CSP’s Adult Classical Guitar program six years ago. She is on the Board of the RI Guitar Guild and is a member of the Rhode Island Music Educators Association (RIMEA), where she conducted last year’s All-State Junior Guitar Concert at the All-State Music Festival.
Boyle, a Bristol resident, was Chair of the Arts and Applied Arts Department at Mt. Hope High School, retiring after a 40-year teaching career. During her tenure at Mt. Hope, in addition to teaching and Department Chair duties, she instituted a guitar program at the high school and later expanded it to include the Mt. Hope High School Classical Guitar Ensemble.
